The MA Group Insurance Commission (GIC) is extending the 2013 HCSA/DCAP Open Enrollment to Friday, December 7.
If you have not taken advantage of this program you can still do so. For an application see your Personnel/Payroll Department representative.
Open Enrollment for Flexible Spending Accounts Extended to December 7, 2012
MA State employees – if you have not enrolled or re-enrolled in the GIC’s pre-tax Flexible Spending Accounts, you now have until Friday, December 7 to do so, a three-week extension. Flexible Spending Accounts save on average $250 for every $1,000 contributed. We encourage you to take advantage of these money-saving programs.
There are two options:
1) Health Care Spending Account: The most popular option pays for out-of-pocket health
care expenses on a pre-tax basis. Did you know these include a variety of costs not paid
by your medical, dental, and vision plans?

Orthodontia and dental co-insurance

Eye glasses, prescription sunglasses, and contact lenses

Smoking cessation classes

Chiropractor and acupuncture visits
Other uses:

Physician office visit and prescription drug copays

Calendar year medical and mental health deductibles

Inpatient hospital, outpatient surgery and emergency room copays
2) Dependent Care Assistance Program: Pay for day care and/or elderly dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis.
