The NCEU has a new edition, the Franklin County Captains. The Captains officially joined the NCEU after the group recently made it known to their Employer they wished to be represented by the Union. After some candid discussions between the parties, the Employer voluntarily agreed to recognize the NCEU as the Captains exclusive bargaining representative. Captain Paul Hill stated, "After the NCEU successfully organized the Franklin County Correctional Officers, Sergeants, and Lieutenants, the Captains witnessed first hand the superior representation provided by the NCEU. Additionally, the Captains witnessed the constant communication from the NCEU, the professionalism, the vast knowledge of the corrections industry and labor law coupled with the decisive victories on important issues that affects correctional employees on a daily basis." Hill further stated, "It is delightful to see an organization so compassionate about corrections and willing to fight on our behalf in order to provide us with a better quality of life on and off the job." NCEU National President Michael Nessinger stated, "We are honored to have the Franklin County Captains become a part of the NCEU. The Captains are a professional group with talented individuals that provide expertise to the operations at the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and corrections as a whole. The NCEU has continued to draw local and national attention from the men and women working in corrections. It is clear the hard working correctional professionals across the Commonwealth and the Nation deserve an organization such as the NCEU that is willing to fight on behalf of all correctional employees who risk their lives everyday working behind the walls."
